Hello, I am Amara, and I pursuing a major in History. My career dream is to be a professor, or anything else where I can work towards educating others in a university setting. I love being able to work as a peer educator and taking on the mentorship responsibilities that those roles have. It took me some time figuring out how this whole college thing works and I want to be able to share what I’ve learned and try out different things with other people. It is amazing how differently different people work, think, and learn, and I want to help other students discover what works for them.

Hi, I am Grey and I am pursuing a degree in English. My career dream is to be editing and translating foreign novels. College is very different from high school, in that a student has to keep their own schedule, and be responsible for themselves. It may be difficult to juggle free time, study time, and other extra-curriculars. It can be a challenge to find resources and programs on campus to assist. That is why I wanted to be a peer academic coach. I believe that every student has their own pathway to success. I am passionate about making sure any student I meet not only succeeds, but acquires the skills and tools they need to continue to succeed after our meeting.

Hi there! I am Jack and I am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I wanted to be a peer academic coach because I believe being confident in the classroom can be the difference to if somebody feels at home on campus. Hopefully, being a peer academic coach will allow me to be a source of support for others to overcome challenges like the ones I faced in my freshman year. Hi ya! I am Jackson Stephens and I am a Psychology major. My career dream is to be a Neuropsychologist. I wanted to be a peer academic coach because when I came to college I struggled a lot with developing good study habits and keeping track of my work, I know how stressful this was for me, so I want to help others acclimate and avoid stress by building good habits.
Something fun about me: I love to rock climb, and I used to be on competitive climbing teams during high school! We would travel to gyms and canyons across the country to climb.

I’m a third-year PhD student in Creative Writing, focusing on fiction. As a writing consultant, I especially like to work with people on creative writing, application materials, and humanities scholarship, but I’m always excited to help at any point along the writing process from brainstorming to revision. Before I got to KU, I attended the University of Oklahoma where I received my BA in English Writing with minors in Spanish and Classical Culture, and my MA in Rhetoric and Writing Studies with a concentration in Creative Writing. My scholarly interests include social fiction, mythological retellings, speculative fiction, Marxist theory, and writing center pedagogy. And—most importantly—I love my dog Percy!

Hello! I am a PhD candidate in history. My research examines the contributions Tanzanian women have made to urban centers post colonization. I speak Swahili as a second language. I enjoy working with students across disciplines on different kinds of writing projects. I always enjoy helping students with personal statements as I get to know them beyond academia. I also love exchanging ideas at the brainstorming stage and generally talking through ways to approach writing projects. Most of my down time is spent giving belly rubs to and doing positive reinforcement behavior training with my anxious-about-everything-in-the-world dog, Bart. I’m also an avid puzzler and have recently taken up cross stitching.

I am a PhD candidate in the Geography department with a background in cultural studies. My area of research is medical humanities, specifically I am interested in exploring the intersection of the arts and medicine. In my free time I enjoy throwing on the pottery wheel.
